Four questions about missions, the Anabaptists, and William Carey

1.      Why did William Carey, in his famous An Enquiry into the Obligation of Christians to Use Means for the Conversion of the Heathens, in which he made an historical survey of the history of missions, say nary a word about the Anabaptists? 2.      Why did the Continental Anabaptists not send a mission overseas and why did Calvin send a mission to Brazil?

3.      Where were the Anabaptist missionaries during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries?

4.      Was Carey’s mission a product more of the Reformation or of Pietism?
